Conservation Technician

The Mason-Lake Conservation District is seeking a Conservation Technician to provide technical assistance to landowners and promote holistic management practices on working lands of Mason and Lake Counties. This position will be part of a welcoming team in beautiful western Michigan, where there is a diverse variety of agriculture, including row crops, orchards, dairy, livestock, floriculture as well as silviculture. This project is funded by grants through the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.


Job Status:
Hourly, full-time

Term: Three years; potential to extend dependent on funding

Compensation: $20 - $24/hour, dependent on experience and qualifications

Benefits: Paid federal holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, health insurance option and IRA retirement plan with employer match

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Occasional evenings or weekend days

Location: Scottville, MI. Some remote work possible for the right candidate

Office Manager

Under the direction of the Mason-Lake Conservation District Executive Director, this position will process routine payroll, accounts payable and receivable as well as tracking documentation for grant awards, general office duties, annual tree sales, customer service, and other duties as assigned.

Job Status:  Hourly, part-time, 20 hours per week, potential to increase

Term: 2 years, potential to extend dependent on funding

Compensation: $14-$18 hourly, dependent on experience

Benefits:  IRA retirement plan with employer match

Schedule:  Monday-Friday between 8:00am-4:30pm, 2-3 days/week.

Flexibility for the right candidate. No holiday workdays.

Field Crew - Hemlock Woolly Adelgid

The Mason-Lake Conservation District is seeking a Field Crew to carry out field survey and treatment work related to the invasive insect Hemlock Woolly Adelgid. This is a fast-paced job as part of a welcoming team in a beautiful area. This Early Detection and Response effort is an opportunity to make a major positive impact on forest health in Michigan. This project is funded by a grant through the Michigan Invasive Species Grant Program.

Job Status: Hourly, full-time

Term: 18 months; potential to extend dependent on funding

Compensation: $15-$17/hour, dependent on experience

Student Trainee - Natural Resources Conservation Service

The Natural Resources Conservation Service NRCS is a major partner and supporter of Mason-Lake Conservation District. The Conservation District is housed in the NRCS office, and we work together daily on projects to help promote conservation efforts in our community. NRCS is currently hiring a full-time trainee to be housed in Scottville.

Job Status: Students or recent graduates only; hourly, full-time

Term: 18 months; potential to extend dependent on funding

Compensation: $28,078 to $36,500 per year
