Common PawPaw (Asimina triloba)

Type:Deciduous
Other Names: Pawpaw, Common Pawpaw, Custard Apple, Indian Banana, Wild Banana

Range: Eastern United States and Canada
Typical Mature Height: 10-40 ft
Light Requirement: Sun , Part Shade , Shade
Soils: Rich, moist, slightly acid soils. Sandy, Sandy Loam, Medium Loam, Clay Loam, Clay
Habitat: The Pawpaw's preferred habitat is rich, moist bottomland, but will also grow on other sites that are well~drained and sunny or partly shaded. Within their native range, they can be found almost anywhere from river bottoms to hill tops
Flower Color: purple, white, yellow or red six-petaled flowers
Fruit: Fleshy, oblong, thick, up to 6 inches long, greenish yellow, with several dark brown seeds.  Needs a pollinator tree.
Bloom Time: April-May
Wildlife Value: The small crop is generally consumed only by wildlife, such as opossums, squirrels, raccoons, and birds.  Attracts birds and butterflies
Uses: used as an ornamental and for wildlife
