Soils: rich well drained soils
Habitat: upland forests

Flower Color: yellow, green, brown
Fruit: seed with wings (samara)
Bloom Time: spring
Wildlife Value: abundant nesting and cover tree for numerous species of wildlife; special value to honey bees
Uses: very popular species for wood products, particularly veneer; also widely popular for making maple syrup
