Mason-Lake CD welcomes a New Interim Director

At the October 9th Mason-Lake CD board meeting, the Board appointed an Interim Director Beth Freeby to fill the position recently vacated by Tom Alway.  Beth will serve as an Interim Director until elections are held in Feb. 2019.  Beth and her husband have owned property on Upper Hamlin Lake since 2003.  As land owners there, they have served as stewards of 10 acres.  In addition, they work with fellow neighbors in an association to care for 140 acres which abut the Manistee National Forest. Prior to living in the Ludington area full time, Beth lived Portage, Michigan, where she volunteered on the city Historic District Commission, the public school’s District Advisory Committee, and served on the Board of the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra.  Last summer, Beth volunteered with Jesse’s Garden, Manistee’s Community Garden which provides fresh produce for local food pantries.

Beth’s formal education consists of a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University and a Master of Education from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Her prior work experience includes positions at a small energy company, the Department of Defense, the Veterans Administration, and Berkshire Hathaway Realty Home Services.
